Ankies are large, squat, armored herbivores that move about on four legs, and have a large club on their tails. Adults can be the size of two oxen, and are often used by the military of Rakore to carry ballistas into combat. The ankies do not have a high carrying capacity, despite their size, and so often carry only two armored dwarves and a ballista – one to drive, and one to fire.

Not having a temperament suited for domestic work, ankies are rarely used for anything else in Rakore, although they do have a high drag capacity.
