Knight of Rakore
“The heck with this!”
Date of Birth: Sometime around 1214 Avard.
Current Status: Summer, 1331 Avard. For his actions in the aid of the defense of Takanal, Rakore during the War of the Four Winds, Ta'Crae was promoted to Knight by the Baron Thespulae of Takanal. Ta'Crae continues to work for Gideon Enterprises' FireStorm, and serves as the senior FireStorm leader in Takanal. His friend Kaisumi Setatoro often visits with the cleric Rell from Lok Magius. Ta'Crae often works with Sir Zachary Kantor in Takanal and the outlying areas.
Ta'crae is a tall, wiry elf with bronzed skin, brown hair pulled back in a pony-tail, and odd, silvery-colored eyes. His tattoos are minor, and considerably less camouflaging than most desert elves, though he none-the-less dresses in camouflaged breeches, boots, and vest. He wears a shortsword and a longsword in the scabbards at his belts, but prefers the use of his massive longbow, easily taller than he is. Twin quivers, each carrying more than enough to kill a man, are slung over his wiry shoulders.
Ta'crae carries a masterwork longsword and a masterwork shortsword, but his greatest item is his self-crafted masterwork strength longbow (dealing more damage and going greater ranges than most comparable longbows). His mithril chainmail is worn almost as an afterthought, and covered in camouflaged clothing. He carries a hefty pack with an assortment of goods in it, including several flasks of alchemists' fire.
He grew up as many young desert elves did in the Choranil Desert of Halganath. There were the occassional battles with desert orcs, or kobolds, or ogres, but times began to be tough when the three enemy races started joining together under a new ogremai leader deep in the desert. Then came the War of the Undead, which nearly wiped out most of the desert elves of the Choranil. Forced to flee with many of his people to the fledgeling nation of Rakore, Ta'Crae pledged his bow to Rakore to support his family and his new nation, and to strike back at his enemies. His worst enemy would always be the undead, for the horrors they unleashed during the War of the Undead – and the banshee that arose from his mother's corpse beneath the fangs of a vampiric orc.
During the War of the Undead and the horrors it engendered, Ta'Crae was there, time and time again, picking off the zombies and skeletons as best he could from a distance or from elevated locales, firing into the crowds of humans and elves and dwarves, and never once worrying where his shots went. At the Burning Sun Monastery on Hallis Island, his skill against the undead has been studied and noted.
In 1328, his boss Garan Rubynose teamed him up with a half-Sholin, half-mer-elf named Kaisumi. The nature-loving Ta'crae found a kindred soul in the sea-loving Kaisumi, and the two became steadfast partners travel ling all over Rakore as special operatives of Gideon Enterprises, the largest merchant marine fleet in all Rakore. The two even helped investigate the destruction of Tulish by rogue Quitzara from the Church of Lul.
Ta'crae is a soft-spoken, quiet elf – until he gets a wild hair up his arse and does the craziest of things. In combat he is calm and collected, but outside of battle and the adrenaline rush it gives him, he tends to be chaotic and impatient until he calms down and reattunes himself with nature. Cyclic in his moods, and eager for battle, Ta'crae hasn't ridden the dunes that are his namesake in decades – but longs for that carefree time when the world was right.
Raised by Ta'Crae since she was a chick, Phoenix is the second chick he's raised, in a long line of well-serving falcons. The two have a close bond – so close that they can even feel one another's emotions over a distance because of Ta'Crae's powerful bonds to his chosen god, Xynosalionisis.
