Xennith

Character concept by Samuel Lee, all rights reserved.

Agent of the Bat

“Humans die young. Drow kill young.”

Date of Birth: Cal 17th, 1222 Avard.

Current Status: Summer, 1331 Avard. Xennith works for the mysterious Bat as a special agent, thief, assassin, spy, and hatchet man. Most of the time, Xennith can be found inside the nation of Rakore traveling in stealth and secrecy.

Appearance

Xennith tends to keep the hood of his dark gray cloak up, hiding his ebon-black skin from bright lights and the sun. His red eyes are sinister, and nearly glow in any kind of light. His thick mane of white hair is kept back in a warrior's braid that runs down his back. His studded leather armor is well-oiled, and on his left side he wears a gauntlet-and-armor with spikes and flares of beautiful craftsmanship and deadly utility. The handles of throwing knives can be seen all about his person, and about his waste he has thick belt packs with various odds and ends.

Background

Unlike most of the drow in Rakore, Xennith immigrated in almost immediately after the razing of Tyven. Xennith was 43 – still a child by drow terms – when the city was invaded by the undead, and all the remaining drow scattered. Young Xennith fled far inland, and lived as a rogue, scamp, thief, and pick-pocket, working his way in whatever direction he could to survive. He eventually wound up in Rakore, where his services were bought by a man known as the Bat – Evelin Battachirus, the richest man in all Rakore.

Xennith's master Evelin Battachirus went underground in the aftermath of the War of the Four Winds. Though arguably one of the richest men in the world, 'the Bat' was hunted by everyone. The Bat moved to the Rakoran city of Chasadan after the war, and continued to work right under the nose of the paladins there. This made Xennith very nervous. Xennith has no connections to the Darsukar Duchy and its drow, but he often uses falsified papers and identities from that duchy to perform the tasks set him by the Bat, who went by the name of Erod Culgifas.

Character

Xennith is fiercely loyal to the Bat, because he knows a good deal when he sees it. Xennith has worked as the Bat's 'agent' for several years doing odd jobs, from stealing bodies out of graves to spying on the King's Quarrels. The drow has begun to understand the benefits of having good friends and good allies from the Bat, and has grudgingly admitted that there might be room in the world for a 'heart'. Outside of that, however, Xennith is still a ruthless and well-traveled, well-experienced, and dangerous drow with few ties to anything else save wealth.
