 +====== Wilden ======

 +It is said that the origin of the Wilden is from magic and need.  In the dark reaches of time, when the ancient races were in their infancy, the land itself needed a protector against the atrocities of unnatural magicks.  That need brought forth life in the form of the Wilden.
 +
 +Wilden are divided into separate tribes.  Each tribe is migratory and will have a separate home (and often physical aspect) for each season.  This tendency probably reflects the inherent bond this race still shares with the land.  Within a tribe, the people will be broken into Houses that are roughly similar to clan names.  The Wilden consider their migratory route to be their "territory" that they are soul-bound to defend from unnatural events and beings.
 +
 +Each Wilden will undergo a coming of age ritual (roughly around age 20) called Sollas, meaning wild history/memory.  The Sollas affirms the role that particular Wilden will fill in the community.  In addition it is also when he/she will be chosen by a creature from the wild for a soul-bond.  The creature becomes a companion and guide for the Wilden and will live only as long as the Wilden lives(and, indeed, cannot die as long as the Wilden is alive).  The companion and the Wilden form a mental link in which they can understand, at a primal level, the needs/wishes of the other.  They cannot communicate complex thoughts or requests.
 +
 +Wilden do not worship any of the known gods.  The closest to a deity one could identify would be Nature itself.  They protect and hold as sacred that which gave them life - the land. Central to their belief is the fatalistic view that events will unfold as they should.  Most of their interactions are passive unless they encounter something which they consider outside of the natural order of the world. Knowledge is viewed as a both a defense and a weapon so the People are not often willing to share information with anyone.  However, they are more than happy to take any information that you could give...
 +
 +The Wilden lore places them as the ancestor to all elves.  Long ago, the root of the elven tree split into three primary branches: the original Wilden, the Merfolk, and the remaining elven races.  The Merfolk were separated more by habitat than by lifestyle and took as their domain the watery realms of the world.  However, the rest of the third branch of elven races made a choice to "join" the world of the other races.  Wilden culture requires that they passively observe the world and protect it on an "as needed" basis.  The rest of the terrestrial elves decided to take an active role in shaping the world around them.  In addition, the other elvish races, including the Merfolk, have accepted foreign gods as their own.
