By means of this spell, anyone that attacks the caster in melee combat receives damage back, depending on the level of the caster.

The lesser armor of thorns is a field of energy that the caster calls into being about his person.  When he is attacked in combat by melee weapons or claw attacks (for example), the field strikes back at each attacker for 1 point of damage.  Thus a 7th-level sorcerer hit twice by one opponent and once by another opponent in combat, would deal 1 point to the first attacker, and 1 points of damage to the second attacker.

The spell can strike back at a goblin using a sword, or a giant wielding a pole-axe; the range of the retribution is limited only by the melee attack itself.  Since lesser armor of thorns does not require concentration to maintain, the caster is free to attack or cast spells normally, dealing additional damage to opponents if necessary.
