Necromancy
Level: Cleric of Nabrol 3 (Cleric of Nathel 2) Components: V, S, DF Casting Time: 1 action Range: Short (5ft + 5ft/level) Target: Living creature Duration: Instantaneous/1hr (see text) Saving Throw: Will negates Spell Resistance: Yes Striking from the shadows, the specialty priests of Nathel would gaze deep into the eyes of their opponents. In that moment when their strength left them, they would raise their hands towards their opponent, and with shadowy red tendrils of energy rippling between their fingers, they would drain the energy of their victims into themselves. The energy drained could be added to the priest's own Hit Points, raising them above the priest's maximum Hit Points for one mark, after which time the energy faded. The spell siphoned one hit die of energy from its opponent (1d10 from warriors, 1d4 from mages, etc), for each level of the priest. Thus, a 15th-level specialty priest of Nathel could siphon 15d6 energy from a bard, 80 feet away. Any attack on the priest would take energy from the stolen Hit Points, until they were exhausted. If any of the stolen Hit Points were left after one mark, they would dissipate into the shadows, absorbed by Nathel. The priest cannot drain more than the victim's current hit points +10, which is enough to kill the victim. If the priest was attacked during the round in which he was draining energy, the spell ended (Concentration checks inapplicable). The Hit Points siphoned away from the victim slammed back into him when the priest was interrupted, and the priest gained nothing. The priest would be stunned for 1d4 rounds, while his Hit Points diffused back into him. For this reason, specialty priests of Nathel often attacked lone victims, rarely using searing soul in a crowd. After Nathel's death, and the rise of his archon Nabrol to godhood, Nabrol's priests accepted the power of Nathel's searing soul. Unlike Nathel's priests, Nabrol's priests were flashy, using their red and black robes to garner fear and terror in plain sight, rather than from the shadows. |
