Genesee Shalamarteen

Character concept by David Tubbs, all rights reserved.

Date of Birth: Unknown.

Current Status: Summer, 1331 Avard. Genesee is most often found in the city of Gridolin, on Hallis Island, learning the arts of rulership and running an enterprise from the Baron Kirad, Duke Orcbane, and his beloved Lilac.

A lean and powerful elf, his bright smile, green eyes, and jaunty clothing mislead the eye and convince most observers that he is a fopp. His appearance, though, is an illusion – though the smile is not. Careful scrutiny reveals that his clothing is quiet and silent, made of the most supple leathers, and hued in broken tones that disrupts his profile to the casual eye. His strawberry blonde hair is actually two-toned, with golds and reds all through it, like a riotous autumn tree.

The trained eye will note that Genesee wears the Karasenth bracers of Habrem. He also carries on his hip a special katana taken from a pirate-king that had taken control of the Sholin city of Tulish. Genesee also has several enchanted rings, as well as an enchanted bag whose depths seem endless.

Genesee was raised in Tolbricara, before finding his true calling as a bard and a minstrel. Traveling the realms, he eventually made his way further and further west, picking up on many languages and learning a great deal about the world. He aided mages wherever he could, and was rewarded with powerful spell repertoire. His skills and cunning let him stay one step ahead of the Inquisition, until he traveled west with the Fourth Crusade. Reasoning that the best place to hide from the Inquisition was in the midst of them, he acted as a minstrel for many crusaders, even as they took Kur Maeth. From there, he learned of the upstart nation of Rakore, and its view that mages were to be protected. Making his next logical step, he headed west to Rakore, and wound up joining the elite group of Firestorm as it waged its war against the undead and Demik Coruth.

After the War of the Undead, Genesee did various jobs for Rial Mhenace of Gideon Enterprises and the nation of Rakore. During the War of the Four Winds, Genesee learned that his grandfather was Duke Henrik Kamus of Hallis Island. The duke sacrificed himself during the war, and Genesee was chosen to take up his grandfather's mantle, after a period of training.

There was a time during which he had issues with his lycanthropy, believing it to be a curse rather than a family trait. With the recognition that his grandfather was the King's Advisor on Magic, and a werebear that would drink himself into a stupor on his hybrid state, Genesee finally came to realize who and what he was.

He is a true lycanthrope, able to change into a fearsome wearbear at will. The magic of his lycanthrope allows his items and equipment to change with him. A skillfull elf, he cannot remember much of his past, and never met his true parents – though he learns as much as he can, at every opportunity. He never fails to perk up his comrades with jaunty tales or good music, facing death and battle with a mischievous bent and an eye for trouble.

He speaks the Common Tongue, Elven, and the Thieves' Cant.
