Maps

Maps are visual representations in two dimensions, of the true four dimensional world around us. The maps of a people or a place or a nation or a time can tell us as much about the worldview of that people as can most any other artifact. Maps differ from person to person, scribe to scribe, mind to mind – and what's important and 'should be' on one map, may be left off of another map of the same area. Scales are confused – with one man's idea of a Day's Journey being different than another. The real irony is that many scribes never travel half so far as they draw.
