Baron of Rakore
Lord of the Soapstone Company
Current Status: Summer, 1331 Avard. Kirad moved to Hallis Island to take over the Soapstone Company after Duke Henrik perished in the War of the Four Winds. Working out of Hallis Island's city of Gridolin, Kirad has managed to maintain the crazy patchwork company Duke Henrik constructed to generate funds for Hallis Island – and though young, the company is rapidly growing. Kirad also spends his time grooming Genesee Shalamarteen to run the company, and eventually become Duke of Hallis Island.
Kirad is a relatively tall man, wearing black leather tunics and breeches. His boots are usually more like thick leather socks, because of how soft and supple they are. His dark hair is kept very short, and he seems to perpetually sport a week-old beard. His young face is line by years of thought, and his dark eyes seem to add to his age, though just how old he is is hard to pin down.
He was born and raised in the back streets of the Holy City of Karmen, the largest city on Gaeleth. Working the back streets as an abandoned urchin, and later as an accomplished burglar, he eventually came to work for one Kavrun, a small-time crime boss and general thug. Kavrun was later hired out to be the contact in Karmen for the foreign company Gideon Enterprises, and Kirad stowed away aboard the GE vessels Kavrun dealt with. At GE headquarters, Kirad proved his worth to Rial Mhenace, and moved quickly to become Rial's second-in-command of managing the strong business.
Kirad saw considerable service in the years after the War of the Undead as an assassin and information broker. During the War of the Four Winds, he killed a great many Inquisition paladins in the sewers under Teras, and earned a reputation among the Kur Maen defectors as an agent of Death. Despite the protests it caused among the Kur Maens, Kirad was promoted to 'baron' for his services during the War of the Four Winds.
Once, he was as unscrupulous as a man could be, doing anything and everything to stay alive. Life, death, and everything in between was how he made his living, as a thug, as an assassin, as a spy, and as whatever was needed of him. When Gideon Enterprises bought Kavrun out, Kirad's eyes were opened to a far larger world than survival. Desperate to become a part of something – anything – larger than himself, he gave his allegiance to the first Destiny that came his way. Still somewhat unscrupulous, he adheres to the edicts of GE and his employers, more out of a sense of belonging, than out of any personal preference. Fast and cunning, and highly unpredictable, Kirad has become the indecipherable and indispensable right-hand man of Gideon Enterprises.
