Changelings are a race that became so with a mutation caused by the mix of humanoid blood and the blood of the goddess Nitish. With each generation that passes the likelihood to be given the gift decreases. They are born with the ability to completely change their form. Age, weight, height, coloring, sex, voice, facial structure all can be completely changed within seconds.

That being said, twins are incredibly common among changelings. Legend states that it is because Nitish was known for 'snake eyes', creating two children with complete and utter chaos coursing through there veins.

Changelings are born with minute features. They are typically average height, completely white in complexion, with black or white eyes, and as minimal facial features as possible, and they tend to be on the skinnier side. They have pure white hair which never changes with age. They can change into anyone they've seen, including a drawing.

Changelings have what most would consider a unique anatomy. They source their change in pigment from their blood, so when cut the substance that pours out is a darker substance that seems to have holographic tendencies and is the consistency of oobleck. It is a thick liquid to the touch but if you punched it, hard as bone. Technically speaking, if you cut a changeling, their skin is just a dried form of their blood (such as humans get scabs) and changelings blood slowly refills their wound and slowly drys to create new skin. It takes about as long as it would for a human to heal but they are incapable of scarring. Their skin also cannot hold tattoos. They could create their own image of one but the real ones just cause the ink to seep out of the skin within hours. Changelings have a lack of bones so they can change to they shape they wish, so they have cartilage instead, making it impossible for them to have a broken bone. If you get to it, it can be puncher-ed but it is exceedingly difficult.

Lastly they can change their voice to any humanoid races tone (not language tone) making them have an incredibly large vocal range but they technically always have an undertone when they speak. It is not something recognizable to humans more depth lower then many things other then animals can hear. This tone is how changelings recognize each other.

As far as them changing their height and weight that is a secret only Nitish herself knows and no one else has been able to figure out. But all power must have it's limits. Changelings spend years learning to hide their emotions and keep control because if they don't they by force change into what they personally think of when it comes to that emotion.

Changelings do have some small tribes though. Each tribe has their own family crests that can be recognized by the others. And all changeling tribe worship and honor their root of Nitish. That being said their are many changelings spread throughout the world that go noticed. Many people who find a changeling in their family who are unaware of their bloodline and accuse changelings of stealing their children. Some of them seek brutal revenge.

Changelings make a huge point to stay hidden in Rakore after they were used as spies in the crusades. The crusaders kept the fact changelings were of religious decent as a closely guarded war secret. Many changelings still live in the lands of the crusaders. Nitish did not wish to put a bullseye on her people, so detect magic only works on changelings if they are in the middle of changing. That being said, changeling hunters have made some magic items to specifically seek them.
