Recap
The afternoon of the 13th of Dacal, 1329 Avard, Ruins The party entered the ruin complex around noon. It was made up of two buildings. One was a small square structure, the other larger and shaped like an “L”. Investigation of the first building revealed it to be an ancient temple to Mikindum, the God of Work and Building. His church was very active in the war against the Nabralian invasion around the year 432 Avard. This temple was typical of his worshipers' style. It had rooms for meetings, meditation and monk training. The main alter room was overtaken by ghouls and ghasts, but Horus destroyed them with his holy wrath. Opening the main doors of the larger building started a fight with a bunch of zombies. Once again Horus' turning undead ability made easy work of the undead before them. A search of the main room revealed a secret set of stairs hidden in a pillar. Gemini was a bit rusty disabling traps, but his quick reflexes saved him as a portcullis dropped down to block the stairs. Thrug lifted the heavy set of bars until the trap reset and Gemini disabled it the second time around. Beyond, was a set of spiral stairs leading down into darkness. Before going downstairs, the party elected to explore the ground floor more. The eastern wing consisted of an eating room, a kitchen and several offices. They found some parchment that would be useful to Caleb later on and nothing else. The western wing was barracks, consisting of 10 four man rooms, each filled with four skeletons. The party dispatched these with ease. Moving cautiously down the spiral stairs, Gemini found another trap. In disabling it, he was able to recover the razor wire that was used in it. They found themselves in a small 25 by 25 foot room with four doors. None of the doors were trapped, but all were locked. The party started exploring by entering the west door and moving in a clockwise direction through all the rooms. In the north-east corner room they encountered three skeletons that were the remains of 3 followers of Mikindum. The party defeated them handily and then moved their remains back to their coffins, but took the magical items from the bodies. The south-east corner room contained the ghost of the founder of the monastery. She was a high level monk of Mikindum called the Iron Fist for the gauntlets she wore on her hands. She gave the party a vague warning of change and impending doom, but could not be more specific since they were not questing for any set purpose. Her last warning was to not disturb the south-west corner room, since it contained her remains and the undead creature they had become would be very formidable. The party explored the last room and then settled down to rest in the security of the ruins before taking their booty back to civilization to sell.
Thus ends the 13th of Dacal, 1329 Avard, Ruins.
